Privacy Policy for Evenly Money

Evenly Money is displayed on your Home Screen as Evenly. This policy explains how Hardik Pakhale handles information for the app, website, and related services.

1. Overview

Evenly Money ("Evenly," "we," "us," or "our") helps users budget, save, split expenses, track subscriptions, and settle up. We do not sell your personal information, use financial data for advertising, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

For privacy-law purposes, Hardik Pakhale is the controller or business responsible for Evenly unless a law uses a different term. You can contact us at evenlyapp.help@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

Account and profile information

  • Name or display name, email address, optional phone number, optional profile photo, and authentication identifiers.

Financial and app data you enter

  • Expenses, descriptions, categories, dates, attachments, notes, groups, balances, settlements, budgets, savings goals, subscriptions, updates, activity, payment handles, and receipt information you choose to save.

Bank data through Plaid

Bank linking is optional and available only to users who are at least 18 years old and legally able to connect a financial account. If you connect a bank account through Plaid, Evenly may receive read-only account and transaction data, including institution details, account type, balance, transaction metadata, and subscription or recurring-transaction signals. We do not receive or store your bank login credentials.

Evenly cannot initiate transfers, withdrawals, deposits, or payments through Plaid. You can disconnect a linked bank account in the app where supported. Disconnecting stops future syncing, revokes Plaid access where feasible, and does not automatically delete expense records you created from imported transactions.

Permission-gated device data

  • Contacts: Used for friend discovery and invitations. Selected contact fields may be securely matched through our backend when you choose contact-based discovery.
  • Camera and Photos: Used to scan or attach receipts and selected images. Receipt parsing is designed to run on device where possible.
  • Location: Used only with permission for nearby-friend or location-assisted features.
  • Microphone and Speech Recognition: Used only when you choose voice expense entry. Evenly does not store audio recordings.
  • Face ID or Touch ID: Used locally on your device. Evenly does not receive biometric data.
  • Diagnostics: Device, app, analytics, crash, and performance data only when diagnostics and usage sharing is enabled in Settings.

Some information, including financial information, precise location, account credentials handled by third parties, and government-defined sensitive categories, may be considered sensitive personal information under certain laws. We use sensitive information only for app functionality, security, legal compliance, or user-directed features, not to infer unrelated characteristics or for advertising.

3. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics are disabled by default in the app code. If you enable diagnostics and usage sharing in Settings, Evenly may collect app events, performance data, device identifiers, stack traces, and breadcrumbs needed to diagnose reliability issues. We do not intentionally send names, emails, phone numbers, payment tokens, precise financial amounts, bank balances, or access tokens in analytics events.

4. How We Use Information

  • Provide budgeting, savings, expense splitting, subscription tracking, settlement, and account features.
  • Authenticate users, sync data, calculate balances, import Plaid transactions when authorized, and send service notifications.
  • Provide support, troubleshoot bugs, prevent abuse, improve reliability, comply with law, and enforce terms.

We do not use your personal financial data for advertising and do not train third-party AI models on your personal data.

For users in regions that require a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, with your consent for optional features, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention, service reliability, support, and product improvement.

5. Automated Features

Evenly may use rules, deterministic calculations, on-device processing, and limited app intelligence to categorize expenses, detect subscriptions, parse receipts, suggest splits, and surface financial insights. These features are informational and may be wrong. Evenly does not use automated decision-making to approve credit, lend money, initiate payments, or create legal effects.

6. Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate Evenly, with your direction, or as legally required.

  • Other users may see information you add to shared groups, expenses, subscriptions, settlements, or invites.
  • Service providers may process data for app functionality, hosting, authentication, diagnostics, fraud prevention, or support.
  • We may disclose information to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, enforce terms, or protect users and the service.

We do not sell personal information or share financial data with advertisers.

7. Third-Party Services

Evenly may use or link to Firebase/Google Cloud, Plaid, Apple services, Google Sign-In, Frankfurter or other currency-rate providers, external payment apps, and website hosting, DNS, CDN, or security providers. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

8. Retention and Deletion

We retain data only as long as reasonably needed for the service, security, legal compliance, or user-requested features. When you delete your account in the app, Evenly calls the backend account-deletion workflow. That workflow is designed to revoke or queue Plaid revocation, delete user-owned records and storage objects, anonymize shared records that other participants still need, remove notification and retry data where possible, and delete the Firebase authentication user.

We aim to remove personal account data from active production systems within 30 days, subject to legal obligations, shared-record requirements, abuse prevention, provider delays, and backup rotation. Shared group records may remain for other participants, with your personal identity removed or anonymized where appropriate.

Plaid access is revoked when you disconnect a bank account or delete your account where feasible. Cached imported transaction data is deleted or disconnected from active syncing, except where retained as user-created expense records.

9. Your Choices and Rights

  • Export your data from Settings.
  • Delete your account from Settings.
  • Disconnect linked bank accounts.
  • Disable notifications, diagnostics, or permission-gated features.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where required by law.

To make a privacy request, contact evenlyapp.help@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

If you are in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another region with privacy rights, you may also have rights to complain to a regulator, appeal a denied request, use an authorized agent where allowed, or opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted-advertising, profiling, or sensitive-data uses. Evenly does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use personal information for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

We try to respond to verified privacy requests within 30 days where practical, unless a law allows or requires a different timeline.

10. Children and Minors

Evenly is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum digital-consent age in your country if higher, to use Evenly. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Evenly only with consent from a parent or legal guardian. Users in the EU, UK, or EEA must meet the applicable age of digital consent for their country, which may be 16 unless local law allows a lower age. Plaid bank linking is available only to users who are at least 18 years old.

If you believe a child under 13, or a minor without required consent, used Evenly, contact us so we can review and delete the information where required.

11. International Transfers and Security

Evenly is operated from the United States and may use service providers in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, provider data-protection terms, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

We use safeguards such as encrypted transport, provider-side encryption at rest, Firebase security rules, app-level access controls, account authentication, optional local biometric unlock, and secure token handling. No system is perfectly secure.

12. App Store Privacy Details

Evenly's App Store privacy disclosures and PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest should reflect the app's data use, including contact information, identifiers, financial information, user content, contacts, precise location where enabled, photos or videos, diagnostics, crash data, performance data, product interaction, and usage data where applicable. Evenly does not use data to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

13. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, email, release notes, or another appropriate method.
